Shane is one of the foremost Nyoongar artists in Western Australia today. Both a versatile and confident artist, he works in a variety of mediums and forms, including watercolors on paper, gouache on paper, acrylic paint on canvas, as well as produces sculptures and makes prints.
Shane has a long association with teaching, whether it be conducting artists' workshops in rural areas or overseas festivals, holding student workshops at primary schools, teaching landscape painting lessons for Aboriginal prisoners in the Fremantle, Canningvale and Karnet prisons, or tutoring (for free) Aboriginal artists.
“Through my artworks, I aim to bring a respect and awareness of Aboriginal culture. Whenever the imagery of the figure is used, it is to imbue the painting with the spirituality present in Nyoongar cultural values.”
