Gundula Jacobs

Gundula Jacobs

I am a painter of light, and therefore adhere to a long tradition of realist painting. Vermeer was one of the painters of light in art history I admire the most.

What I find wonderful is that every new subject, whether objects composed as a still life, a person, or a landscape, represents an entirely new challenge, due to the different light conditions and the infinite variety of nature. I have to forever keep a fresh way of looking at the model, without following any preconceived vision, while using all the technical skills acquired in long years of study from life.
