Juliette Aristides “My still lifes are really about paying homage to God and nature. The world is not accidental – there is a designer. And the divine voice speaks to us through the physical world.” - Juliette Aristides The divinity of which Juliette Aristides’ speaks is evident in all of her works, whether they be still lifes or figures. Haunting, beautiful, and displaying a technical mastery reminiscent of the Old Masters, Aristides’ works are captivating. In 1999, Aristides started the Classical Atelier at the Seattle Academy of Fine Art, where she seeks to impart the same training as she has been fortunate to receive. She works with a small group of select students in a year-long intensive progressive program. Aristides counts many of today’s leading artists as her mentors, including Jacob Collins and Steven Assael. She has also studied at a number of the top art schools and ateliers such as Pennsylvania Academy of Art, The Atelier in Minneapolis, the National Academy of Design and helped to found the prestigious Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn. With her soft, sure brushstrokes, Aristides’ objects and figures emanate a radiant, still beauty. “Nature contains profound truth, and I believe it is enough to sit silently before her and listen.” -Quotes taken from Southwest Art’s October 2001 article, Classical
Realist, by Norman Kolpas |
