Jerry Weiss

Jerry Weiss

Portrait artist Jerry Weiss creates animated, realistic portrait and landscape paintings, working directly from life.

In this fashion he paints works that come alive, utilizing the classical, traditional art training that he learned as a student and following the methods of the old masters who have influenced him most, painters as varied as Degas, Corot, and Sargent.

In his desire to teach others the craft of painting from life, Weiss instructs year-round at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Connecticut, and presents week-long portrait painting workshops at art schools around the country.

Jerry studied drawing with Roberto Martinez in Miami, Florida and painting at The Art Student’s League and the National Academy in New York City.

In addition to having pieces in the permanent collection of several museums, Jerry Weiss has been listed in Who's Who in American Art for the last 10 years.
