Stan Moeller
The primary inspiration for
Stan Moeller's art is his love of the natural world.
A Modern Impressionist, Stan's paintings portray the mood of reality, based
on his personal interpretation, rather than technical reality. He seeks
to capture the feeling of a place: the movement of air and light, and the
textures of the landscape. As a child growing up in rural Indiana, Stan
always preferred a blank sheet of paper to a coloring book.
He studied painting and life drawing at Western Michigan University,
but he believes that painting every day, and painting "en plein air" with
other artists, is the best teacher. Stan currently teaches alla prima
painting and landscape painting classes, as well as en plein air workshops
in the Northeast.
Stan's paintings are represented in both private and corporate collections
throughout the country. He was awarded
Second Place in the International Artist magazine Challenge; Seascapes,
Rivers and Lakes and featured in International Artist #25, June/July,
2002
Les Amis De La Grande Vigne, in Dinan France (Brittany),
awarded Stan a residency for the month of May 2003. |
